Travel & Transportation

How do I get to Na Finua?

From Australia, Qantas and Solomon Airlines operate flights to Honiara International Airport. From Honiara, you’ll take a small plane to Santa Ana (available once a week, on Wednesdays), followed by a 20–30 minute boat ride to Na Finua. If you have difficulty connecting flights, please reach out to us—our team will help coordinate a seamless journey.

What about luggage allowances for the small plane to Santa Ana?

Due to aircraft size, luggage allowances are limited. We recommend traveling light and contacting your airline or our team for exact weight restrictions.

Is travel insurance required?

Yes, comprehensive travel insurance with medical evacuation (medevac) coverage is compulsory. This ensures you’re prepared for any unforeseen emergencies on the island.

Do I need malaria tablets?

We strongly recommend consulting a healthcare provider about taking malaria prophylaxis. Mosquitoes are present in the region, so preventative measures are advisable.

Can I arrange flights through you?

While we don’t book international flights, we can provide guidance and help coordinate transfers from the local airports to the island.

When is the best time to travel to Na Finua?

October to April is the best season. Climate is tropically warm and humid with coastal day temperatures averaging 28C (82.4F).

Extensions are possible based on availability. If you’d like to stay longer, speak with our team, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

What to Pack & Bring

What clothing should I pack?

We recommend light, breathable clothing suitable for a tropical climate. Pack a few pairs of shorts, T-shirts, and swimwear. A light jacket or hoodie can be useful for cooler evenings or boat rides. If you surf, bring rashes, booties, surfboards etc..

Do I need to bring surfing, snorkeling, or fishing equipment?

Yes. We do not rent or provide surf gear or snorkel sets, so be sure to pack your own. This includes surfboards, fins, masks, snorkels, and booties. If you plan to fish, feel free to bring your favorite rod and tackle.

What about sun protection?

Sunscreen is an absolute must, and we strongly recommend reef-safe sunscreen to help protect the marine environment. A wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and UV-protective clothing (e.g., rash guards) are also great for minimizing sun exposure. There are no shops on the island, so you must bring everything you need.

Are toiletries available on the island?

Because the island is remote, you’ll need to bring your own toiletries—especially if you have specific brands or products you prefer. Reef-safe, biodegradable soaps and shampoos are encouraged to preserve the local ecosystem.

Do I need to bring medications?

Absolutely. If you take prescription medications, pack enough for the entire length of your stay—there are no pharmacies or shops on the island. We also recommend talking to a healthcare provider about malaria prophylaxis and other travel-related meds.

Should I bring a waterproof bag or dry bag?

A waterproof or dry bag is highly recommended for boat transfers, surfing, and other water-based activities. It helps keep your belongings safe and dry.

Is there anywhere to purchase additional items on the island?

Na Finua is remote and does not have convenience stores or pharmacies. Bringing all essential items—including toiletries, gear, and medications—ensures you’re prepared for your stay.

Any final tips on packing?

Pack light and prioritize essential items. You’ll likely spend most of your time outdoors, so comfortable clothes, swimwear, and protective gear are key. Lastly, bring a sense of adventure—Na Finua’s natural beauty awaits!
